TechFirst youth

Building a brand from zero – identity, web, and print – now live across a DCMS-funded programme in the East of England.

The Problem

  • TechFirst youth needed a brand, there was no identity, no web presence, no marketing collateral.

  • As sole designer, I owned it end-to-end: brand, web, marketing, events.

  • It had to work everywhere at once — a laptop screen, a school noticeboard, a stage at London Tech Week.

Outcomes

  • Built the TechFirst Youth identity from scratch, including wordmark, squiggle motif system, full guidelines.

Outcomes

  • Banners, signage, leaflets and event branding that carried the brand into physical spaces.

Outcomes

  • Delivered ongoing marketing output, web, email, campaigns, eventsas sole designer on a live, multi-year programme.

Delivery

Here's a snapshot of the work so far on a live, ongoing programme.

Starting with the identity, I created a wordmark and squiggle motif system, where each hand-drawn squiggle represents a career pathway – keeping a human feel to the brand, and directly speaking to where a young adult audience is in life. A brand guidelines document is currently being crafted by myself, to support scalability as the programme grows. I've partnered with a copywriter to ensure a consistent tone across the brand.

From there, the brand moved off the page – banners, signage, and event branding for a London Tech Week fringe event, which became one of the main talking points among attendees. This identity has since carried through recruitment campaigns, sponsorship decks, school presentations, and a full build of the website - using AI to speed through early wireframes before refining the final designs myself.

Most recently, that's meant leading the full marketing push for a public event – posters, social assets, a landing page, and a dedicated event page – sourcing and editing imagery to keep everything on-brand under a tight turnaround, with built in UTM tracking to measure engagement.

Conclusion

This project spans identity, web, print and events — built to speak to both teachers and young people, and to spark genuine excitement around careers in tech. The brand is directly converting new leads, backed by positive stakeholder feedback throughout.
